Reflecting On 2018

Back in December of 2009 I started writing a review of the year. It was an idea I found on someone else's blog, and it seemed like a good way to sum up the year. As much as I may think I'll remember when certain events occurred, it's been nice to have this record to look back on over the years...and so I continue with this year's installment.

1. What were the highlights or accomplishments of 2017?

  • Having a visit with Jeremy in November was probably the biggest highlight of this year.
  • Mom's 90th birthday in October was a milestone celebrated with lots of family.
  • Continuing good health and weight loss has been an accomplishment worth celebrating!  Ending the year with a terrible case of the flu...not so much!
2. What were the major themes of the year?

  • I think the main theme has just been continuing on a path to healthier living.
  • For the first half of the year, we were focused on building a business promoting health & wellness products. I found it was taking too much of my time and energy, and decided to back off on that in the fall. At that time we also began putting more time into preparing to downsize...finishing some things on our house in order to be ready to sell.

3. What disappointments or regrets did you experience?

  • I have no real disappointments or regrets. I had hoped that we would be more successful in creating an extra income, but the health benefits we've found are far more important than money, so whether or not we build a business has become less important.

4. What was missing from the year?

  • I don't think anything has been missing...other than more time with some of our family. With Jeremy in Nova Scotia, we've only seen him once this year. And Lorne has started a new career requiring him to travel to Fort McMurray, so we didn't get our usual visits with him and his family either. I'm thinking we may have to take a trip to Alberta one of these days!

5. What did you learn from the past year?

  • I can't say I've learned anything new, but I am getting better at just letting things go!
