Promises From Psalms; Psalm 23

This week's Promise From Psalms is an entire Psalm. There is so much in Psalm 23, I couldn't just pick one or two verses.

Praising God for all his promises found in Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

How amazing it is that with God as my shepherd I have all that I need!

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

No matter what I'm going through, I can find peace and contentment in my Lord and his word.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Not only has God saved me and changed my eternal destiny, even when I stray from him, he draws me back and restores my fellowship with him. He shows me through his word the way I should go that I might bring glory to his name.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

My Lord is my shepherd, no matter what dark valley I must walk through, I have no need to fear, because he is with me. Just as the shepherd guides and directs his sheep, God does the same for me through his word. Knowing this...that he is with me all the way, guiding, leading, instructing, sometimes even disciplining me, is such a comfort!

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Just as the shepherd provides for the sheep, he is also their protector. Nothing can come into my life that God has not allowed, and I can be confident in all circumstances, he is there working his will in my life. In Christ, I find abundant life.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

When I allow the Lord to shepherd me, I'll know his goodness and mercy through every circumstance throughout my life. What a joy it is to know that I have the promise of eternal life!

Join me again next week as I look at another promise from Psalms.
